How to Arrange the Perfect Boudoir Photoshoot
Every photoshoot is unique in its own way.
It brings me great pleasure to craft a new photo story for each client. Based on my experience, I would like to share the key elements of an ideal boudoir photoshoot, exemplified by a recent photo session with Vanesa.
Preparation
The meeting between the photographer and the model before the photoshoot, whether in person or online, is an important initial stage.
I met Vanesa one evening in a Parisian cafe, where we got to know each other better, and I outlined a scenario for our upcoming boudoir shoot. We discussed clothing and accessories with visual examples which inspired for the primary mood of the photoshoot.
It became clear that Vanesa was perfectly suited for the fatal image and dramatic flair of red hues. This helped me envision the lighting in interior and the narrative within the frame.
Different looks for the photoshoot
During the photo session, usually, we have time to change outfits three times. We collaborate on putting the looks together – the ladies bring some pieces, and I always offer additional accessories from my collection. It is crucial that the items fit perfectly and not only enhance your figure but also reflect your personality.
With Vanesa, after a preliminary fitting, we opted for some foolproof choices: black lingerie from Agent Provocateur, a leather corset and a silk skirt from Kriba, and a sheer nude bodysuit from Maison Close.
Duration of the photoshoot
I always request that the girls allocate four hours for the photoshoot. Initially, fitting and makeup preparation will take approximately an hour, with the session itself lasting about three hours. It's essential to take our time and maintain a relaxed pace. We take breaks, enjoy some champagne, and engage in conversation. After our friendly female interaction, we don't want to say goodbye later!
Vanesa and I started the photo session in the afternoon and finished in the evening. This allowed us to capture the stunning blue hue of the air in the window as the streets grew dark.
Trustful atmosphere
Boudoir photography relies on the trust between the photographer and the model. The overall atmosphere, music, and comfort are very important.
One of my principles is to capture images directly onto the computer, allowing the models to view the results of the shoot in real-time. This enables us to make immediate adjustments if needed, whether it's lighting, clothing, or makeup.
Enjoy the process!
I believe this played a significant role in our session with Vanessa. In a light, playful manner, Vanesa embraced various roles, reveled in her femininity, and exuded a relaxed demeanor. As a result, all her poses appear natural and effortless.
We had a fantastic time, thoroughly enjoyed the shoot and our interactions, and were extremely pleased with the photographs.
I invite you to experience the inspiring adventure of an individual boudoir photoshoot!
